Arlene Welter was born October 24, 1931, in Cottage Grove, Oregon. After graduating high school, she met Frank Welter at a dance in Scappoose, Oregon. They were married in March 1950 and began their lives together in Rainier, Oregon, until Frank enlisted in the Army, where she enjoyed traveling with him around the world, including France and Turkey. They moved to Lacey in 1962, when Frank retired from the military.

As a young mother, Arlene raised six children and provided for her family when Frank was deployed. In retirement, after 40 years in the hospitality industry, she enjoyed traveling with Frank in their RV, taking an annual vacation to Mexico, and loved spending time with their children and grandkids. She was an avid Seahawks fan; loved dogs, and enjoyed watching detective and police dramas. Arlene was hard-working, generous, a devout Christian, and independent with a great sense of humor. Arlene and Frank were longtime members of the Loyal Order of the Moose and had many friends throughout their lives.

At the age of 90, Arlene passed away peacefully on January 31, 2022, listening to her favorite church music at her daughter’s home in Rainier.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband and son Patrick. She is survived by her sons Michael (Lynn), Dennis (Denise), Tony (Karen) and daughters Denise (Dave) and Melanie. She was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home on Saturday, February 19 from 1 to 3 p.m.
