Seven people were arrested and one suspect allegedly fled from law enforcement after Lacey police conducted a shoplifting emphasis patrol at Target and Marshall’s on Wednesday.

Lacey Police Department said in its social media post that its Community Resource Unit partnered with the two stores for the operation.

Over a seven-hour period, seven people were arrested while one suspect fled in a vehicle without license plates, Lacey police said. Authorities did not pursue the suspect due to current pursuit laws, the police added.

Two of the arrests were made after a foot pursuit.

One of the men arrested at Target was accused of taking two batteries from an electric handicap scooter, dismantling the scooter, and placing them in his own vehicle. A woman he was associated with was also arrested after exiting the store with allegedly stolen merchandise.

Thurston County Sheriff Derek Sanders commended Lacey police for the operation: “Nice work Lacey. Clean it up.”
