A vehicle lost three wheels when the person who allegedly stole it attempted to flee from law enforcement.

Thurston County Sheriff’s Office reported on social media that on Tuesday, an individual called 911 to report that they found their stolen vehicle in Yelm, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities located the truck parked in the middle of the road, with the driver appearing to be “nodding off with the vehicle parked in the middle of the road.”

Law enforcement set down spikes and attempted to contact the driver, who then fled.

At one point, the driver appeared to be reaching for something inside the car that turned out to be a narcotic smoking device.

Sheriff’s deputies and Yelm police pursued the individual for driving under the influence.

During the chase, the vehicle lost three tires and crashed into a curb just outside Yelm. The driver refused to comply with authorities, prompting a deputy to use a baton to break the window open.

The driver surrendered and was detained by Yelm police. The individual admitted to authorities that they consumed fentanyl, the Sheriff’s Office said.
