Wild Art in Wildwood

Neighborhood event enables social-distancing while building community and public art in the sunshine.

Olympia -- Neighbors in the Wildwood Neighborhood Association figured out a way to have an event that let them observe social-distancing rules, avoid the 10-person limit for public events and create some mighty fine public art today.

Their first-ever Neighborhood Sidewalk Art Day drew out what appeared to be more than a dozen artists, each of whom brought forth something designed to inspire or entertain their families and friends.

One neighbor commented that the idea came as a result of a conversation about annual summer events that had to be cancelled this year.

The chalk itself was provided by the Association, which quietly promoted the event earlier this week via their email list.
