Manifestation: Conscious Dance Workshop, January 20, 4 p.m.

Adam utilizes a mystic approach with a scientific understanding to help people discover their authentic selves through movement, breath, and shamanic journeying. Virtual Orca Talk with Dr. Holly Fearnbach, January 21, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Join the Estuarium on January 21st at 2 p.m. for an exciting and timely virtual talk on the health of local Orcas. Dr. Holly Fearnbach is a leading researcher in the field of marine mammal health. For more than two decades she has worked with the government (NOAA), NGOs, and academic research groups on studies to support the conservation of whales and dolphins in US waters and internationally. Family story time, January 21, 11 - 11:30 a.m.
This is an early learning program that has music, movement, books, and activities for the whole family. All ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by a participating adult. Click this link for more details. 

Treatment plant tour, January 21, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Dive down the drain, tour LOTT’s wastewater treatment plant, and learn how you can be a water-saving hero! Tour begins at 1 pm with a presentation. Tour participants must be 10 or older and wear closed toe shoes. Water superhero activities and crafts available all day. Click this link for more details.

Free tax preparation services, February 1 - April 18, 2 p.m. - 3 p.m.
Come and be assisted by IRS-certified volunteers for this season! AARP Foundation Tax-Aide offers free tax preparation in Thurston County for taxpayers of all ages and income levels unless your return is outside the scope of the volunteers' training. All of the volunteers are IRS-certified. Generally, returns will be prepared in one visit from start to finish unless you are missing important tax documents or identification. You can set your appointment in advance before the February 1 opening. Click this link for more details. 

Acting+Listening theatre workshop series, January 22, 12 p.m. - 4 p.m.
The "ACTING + LISTENING" workshop series is for young people in the community interested in theatre and storytelling as a way to express themselves and learn about others. Participants will become familiar with techniques in Playback Theatre, an original form of interactive and improvisational theatre where people share true moments from their lives and others play them back on the spot using music, conversation, images, and movement. The first part of the series will be this January 22, 2023, with the topic of “Getting to know the group through story”. Click this link for more details. 

Snapshots of Olympia’s heritage exhibit reception, January 23, 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
The Olympia Arts and Heritage Alliance (AHA) is now finalizing an exhibit to be at the Washington Center through mid-March - “Our Town: Snapshots of Olympia’s Heritage.” AHA is hoping you attend the opening reception on Monday, January 23 at 5:30. The project features the eight “Sylvester’s Window” paintings plus related images and stories on accompanying panels. It was conceived by Lynn Erickson. The January 23 reception will be fairly informal. Click this link for more details. 

Stories of food, Food as story, January 28, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Stories of food, food as story is a 4-session project-based workshop to explore the history and cultural heritage through food traditions. Local teaching artists will guide participants through the process of: Identifying a food tradition through which they can learn about their history or culture; Conducting an oral history interview(s) to document the tradition; and Using interview transcripts and memorabilia as source material as inspiration to create a short piece of creative nonfiction and/or a visual journal. Epic cornhole challene, January 28, 4 p.m. - 11 p.m.
Cornholers and cornholer aspirants will face off at Lucky Eagle Casino in Rochester in a fund-raiser for Family Education and Support Services (FESS). A silent auction will provide further fun to brighten a long winter’s evening, as will a DJ and entertainment invited by Bobby Williams, founder, and president of the Bridge Music Project. The Epic Cornhole Challenge is an indoor cornhole tournament dedicated to raising funds to help Family Education & Support Services (FESS) change lives - for children, families, and communities.
