Hale Ekinci at SPSCC Leonor R. Fuller Gallery, August 29-September 23

Collaging together fiber techniques, found textiles, and images from family archives, the exhibition explores phases of acculturation, immigrant identity, and ideas about gendered labor. The decorative fringes are influenced by the Middle Eastern tradition of oya (lace edging on a headdress) and its use of symbolic patterns that serve as a secret language between women to express personal sentiments that must otherwise remain private. Adopting these methods of embellishment and encoding, it create adorned, intercultural portraits framed with oya on bedsheets. Click this link for more details. 

Tenino Arts Creative Market, September 10, from 10:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M.

On the second Saturday of each month through September, Tenino Arts brings together a collection of local artisans for a street fair they call the Creative Market. Nestled in the historic downtown district and on the doorstep of the Tenino Stone Carvers Shed at 147 Olympia St N, this street becomes a celebration of the arts from 10am to 3pm in tandem with the local Farmer’s Market. Tenino Young-at-Heart New Theater Reveal Party and Fundraiser, September 10, from 2:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M.

Join Tenino Young-at-Heart Theatre on the site of their future home for a party and fundraiser on September 10th from 2 pm-5 pm. There will be music, entertainment, and lots of fun activities! They will be revealing their conceptual plans at 3:00 pm and the silent There will be music, theater games for folks of all ages, face painting, songs, and short play readings. At 3 PM, there will be a short welcome and presentation of the conceptual designs with time to look closely at them and visit with the TYT board members. A silent auction and raffle for a variety of prizes are among several opportunities to give financial support to the efforts of building this community theater. Downtown Sea Stroll with the Estuarium, September 11, from 1:00 P.M. - 3:00 P.M.

Learn how the cultural and ecological history of Olympia’s historic shoreline intertwines during Sea Stroll walking tours! Starting from the Estuarium we will loop around the downtown core to track the historic changes to Olympia's shoreline. Participants will walk the path the Education Team uses during our Estuary Life & Landforms field trips. Starting from the Estuarium, they will loop around the downtown core to track the historic changes to Olympia’s shoreline. Candidate Forum - Preventing Gun Violence, September 13, from 5:30 P.M.- 7:00 P.M.

This event is hosted by Thurston Gun Sense and moderated by the Dispute Resolution Center of Thurston County. All candidates running in state legislative districts 2, 22 and 35 have been invited to attend. The event will be on Zoom. Love Local Presents The Enchanted Fae Festival, September 15, from 5:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M.

Join them for an evening of Faerie Enchantment at Huntamer Park in the heart of Lacey, WA on Thursday, September 15, 5-9pm. They had so much fun with the Pirates and Faeries last year, they decided to do it again. But this time they have some surprises in store for all the visitors! All are invited to dress up as your favorite Enchanted Character! Gala Opening Reception - ARTrails 2022 Studio Tour, September 16, from 4:00 PM - 7:30 PM

ARTrails is a community of emerging and established artists who live and work in the greater Lewis County area. Through the annual Studio Tour, held the 3rd and 4th weekends of September, ARTrails provides an opportunity for the public to meet artists in their studio/workplace and observe works in progress, and purchase work directly from the artists. ARTrails promotes the art and work of member artists through exhibits, workshops, and educational programs in coordination with area businesses, schools, and organizations. Olympia Low Vision Fair, September 17, from 9:00 A.M. 

The first annual Olympia Vision Fair will be held at the Olympia Center, September 17, 2022 from 9:00am-4:00pm. The free event will provide opportunities to meet and be inspired by other people in our community with vision loss, feature speakers on emerging assistive technologies, and bridge connections to resources and adaptive devices.
