Uncle Vanya by Anton Chekhov at The Lord Mansion

Posted
Chekhov's bittersweet drama examines the search for a meaningful life in an environmentally
degraded world. This modern adaptation updates his 19th-century language in a dynamic and
intimate setting.

The hundred-year-old Lord Mansion is the setting for this immersive theatre experience; the
audience follows the action in a different room for each act. Seating is limited to thirty people per
night, so advance tickets are required.

Animal Fire Theatre is branching out from Shakespeare in the Park to bring this classic and timely 1896 Russian drama to the Olympia community. Be ready for a truly unique theatre experience.

This production is closely connected to The Evergreen State College. It is the brainchild of
Evergreen emerita faculty Marla Beth Elliott, directs and plays the old nurse, Marina. Evergreen
alumni play most of the major roles. The Evergreen Foundation is one of the sponsors. Evergreen
also manages and operates the historic Lord Mansion.
