Tumwater School Board discusses School Improvement Plan for Littlerock Elementary

Posted

The Tumwater School Board met for a work session Thursday, February 25 at 5:00 p.m. First up on the agenda was a meeting with Littlerock Elementary School Principal, Glenn Spinnie regarding the school’s improvement plan.

A school improvement plan is an annually refined plan that targets what a school needs to improve upon to raise achievement for all of its students. Topics of conversation during the 45-minute meeting ranged from student success in hybrid learning to improvements for English Language Learner and Special Education programs.

The remainder of the work session was dedicated to an update and future plans for the district from Capital Facilities. Capital Facilities Planning is a part of the Washington State Department of Commerce and they help everyone from school districts to businesses use limited funding wisely and efficiently in order to maximize funding opportunities.

Amongst this lengthy discussion was talk of future bonds and levies, a transition program for 18-21-year-old students, and portable buildings. Nothing was set in stone, however, as this was a work session with the strict purpose of discussing future possibilities. The board asked a lot of clarifying questions on the matters and will hopefully have more to announce at the next meeting after looking over the projected budget for next school year.
