Transient man damages library's electronic door opener at 2:00 a.m.

A transient man allegedly damaged the button that activates the electric door opener at the Lacey Timberland Library last Tuesday, but claims that he wasn’t attempting to burglarize the library itself.

He said he was “just checking the door opener out and he bent it” according to the police report.

Luke Dye, 32, was captured on video damaging the Lacey Timberland property, which sits adjacent to the Lacey Police Station, on April 20, 2021 at 2 a.m.

When approached by Lacey Police later that morning, Dye denied any involved, then changed his story once he learned that he was captured on video committing the act.

Dye was booked into the Nisqually Jail for malicious mischief.
