A transient graffiti artist was arrested twice in the span of four days, first for shoplifting a sandwich and then breaking a gym’s street-facing glass with an axe, during the last week of June.
Chevron: food and drink
Adan Rincon, 38, was arrested on June 25 for shoplifting $14 of drinks and a sandwich outside of the Chevron convenience store at 1018 Plum St SE.
Rincon was arrested on June 20 tagging various Olympia power boxes and claiming that he was a professional graffiti artist. (See related story.)
According to the Chevron employee, Rincon allegedly walked into the store, grabbed food and drinks, including cooking a burger in the microwave, then walked out of the store without no intent to pay.
Olympia police arrested Rincon, who was booked into the Olympia Jail for third degree theft. The reporting officer said Rincon said that he was hungry and that “theft was only a citation.”
Athena Fitness and Wellness: axe through windows
Two days later, on June 27, Rincon allegedly used a 14-inch-long axe to break several windows at the Athena Fitness and Wellness center at 3330 Pacific Ave SE.
OPD tracked Rincon down to the nearby Albertson’s, noticing the axe stowed on his right leg.
Rincon was identified by an eyewitness as the person who damaged the gym’s window.
Rincon was booked into the Olympia jail for property damage.
