Corrections deputies with the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office are in line for a series of pay raises in the years ahead.
The sheriff’s office said deputies have ratified a contract with the county that calls for wage increases of up to 19 percent over the next three years, with an 11 percent hike in pay for 2025 and back pay for working without a contract.
“The pay increase authorized by the Board of County Commissioners is timely, as Corrections pay fell behind their comparable market over the years,” the sheriff’s office said in a social media post on April 24. “The wage adjustment also comes just days before National Corrections Officer Week (May 4-10).”
The pay raises come as the sheriff’s office is in the midst of a recruiting campaign aimed at filling nearly two dozen positions.
“TCSO has 21 vacancies in our Corrections Bureau and are actively searching for qualified candidates to fill those positions,” the sheriff’s office said.
Some of the perks included with the positions are full medical benefits, career advancement opportunities, restorative inmate programs, all equipment provided and replaced by the sheriff’s office, load bearing vests, multiple uniform choices and beards and tattoos approved.
