Olympia is warning motorists of street closures along Washington and 4th Avenue and Cherry Streets and 18th Avenue, while Tumwater is announcing a road closure along Seventh Avenue this week.
Olympia's Washington and 4th Ave and Cherry Streets, as well as 4th Ave, will have crews at work from Monday until Thursday, October 24, to remove stumps and sidewalks, set up new tree grates, and install new sidewalk panels.
"Work is expected to suspend again on October 25 and resume in early November for tree planting, landscaping, and site restoration, Olympia said in a press release.
Meanwhile, 18th Ave SE, east of the roundabout located at Fones Road and 18th, will be closed from midnight to 6 a.m. on Friday, October 25, and Saturday, October 26.
"This section of road transitions in name from 18th Ave SE to Elizabeth Ave SE and then to 14th Ave SE as it enters the City of Lacey," Olympia noted. "The closure is needed to assist with utility work in Lacey."
Olympia adds that Lacey may also have some traffic closures related to their joint work.
Seventh Avenue SW will be closed between Linwood Avenue and I Street SW in Tumwater on Saturday, October 26, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
According to the city's press release, City Water Operations crews will install a new fire hydrant near the intersection of 7th Ave. SW and Linwood Ave. SW.
"Plan ahead to take alternate routes or follow signed detour routes around the work zone, Tumwater said. "Suggested detour routes are I Street SW and 6th Avenue SW."
