Raise the House Interfaith Works: Unity Commons Donation Drive

Posted by BekahGuenther1

Through contributions of household items and donations, we invite our Thurston County friends and neighbors to help celebrate the opening of Unity Commons at 161 Pattison St. NE in Olympia. Unity Commons is a five-story, affordable rental building that includes 65 permanent supportive housing units for people leaving homelessness above a 58-bed enhanced shelter on the ground floor.

The Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI), together with Interfaith Works demonstrates what can be done with vision and partnership, and the result is Unity Commons. Born from the dream of Interfaith Works and its member faith communities, steadfast dedication to affordable housing development by LIHI, and overwhelming community support for the 2018 Olympia HOME Fund, Unity Commons represents a vital time in our collective story. State agencies, local governments and private donors helped fund construction and Interfaith Works will provide ongoing supportive services and case management for residents.

Many items are needed to make Unity Commons feel like home for some of our most vulnerable neighbors and you can help. Interfaith Works is partnering with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to host community drop-off days for items needed for Unity Commons. To learn more please visit our website events page at https://www.interfaith-works.org/events.html.

The last scheduled drop-off day for items is December 11 from 9AM to 12PM. You can either drop off items at: 1116 Yew Avenue NE in Olympia, or 1602 Ruddell Road SE in Lacey.
