Olympia's Public Works Department has requested proposals (RFP) to install a solar photovoltaic (PV) system at Fire Station 1.
The project calls for a 134.4KW DC/100KW AC solar PV system to be installed at the fire station, which is located at 100 Eastside Street SE.
This initiative aligns with Olympia's ongoing efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and increase the use of clean energy in municipal buildings.
Olympia's Facilities Manager Eli Cole is overseeing the project. Interested contractors can submit their proposals and statements of qualifications electronically by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29.
The full RFP document will be available for viewing on the Builders Exchange of Washington website under the City of Olympia — Public Works category.
In line with federal regulations and the city's commitment to equity, Olympia is actively encouraging participation from disadvantaged business enterprises.
The city assures that all bidders will have equal opportunity without discrimination based on race, color or national origin, as per Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
This project is not limited to Olympia alone. Public agencies with active Intergovernmental Cooperative Purchasing Agreements with the Olympia may also benefit from the resulting contract, potentially expanding the impact of this green initiative across the region.
The solar installation at Fire Station 1 is part of Olympia's climate action plan, which includes increasing local renewable energy production.
For additional information or to submit questions about the RFP, contractors can contact Eli Cole via email at ecole@ci.olympia.wa.us. Questions via telephone will not be accepted.
