The Olympia Police Department is seeking information about a man who allegedly attempted to abduct a woman walking home from work.

Olympia police said officers were dispatched to an abduction attempt in the 2200 block of Ninth Avenue SW on June 4 at around 10 p.m.

The victim told authorities that she was walking home when she noticed a man following her. The suspect was initially far from her but quickly closed the gap between them and attacked her from behind, she said.

The woman said the suspect grabbed her by her clothes and attempted to pull her into a secluded wooded area. She managed to fight him off and get away.

The victim believes that this incident was not the first time that the suspect followed her.

Police said one of its police dogs traced the suspect’s path, which ended at Ketner Place and Sixth Avenue.

The woman said the suspect was white male, about 30 years old, with a slender build, brown hair, and a large scar on his face. He was wearing a baseball hat, black jeans, and a dark hoodie on the night of the incident.

Those with information about the suspect were urged to call Detective McKoon with Olympia police at 360-753-8300 or the Thurston County CrimeStoppers at 800-222-8477.
