Olympia city council to discuss Comcast renewal tomorrow

Posted

The Olympia City Council is set to meet on Tue., Jan. 12 at 5:30 pm; the agenda includes renewing Comcast's exclusive franchise in the city.

The council will discuss other topics including the approval of a labor contract between Olympia and the Olympia Police Guild and the approval of the Eastside Street Art Crossing Concept Plan. As determined by the council last week, Yến Huỳnh will be sworn in as the newest council member, as well.

With the prospective renewal of the Comcast franchise having previously garnered public interest in nearby cities, this meeting will be an opportunity for Olympia residents to voice their opinions on what another 10-year contract with Comcast would look like.

The meeting agenda includes two opportunities for citizens to address the city council with any concerns relating to agenda items. One will be occurring near the start of the meeting, and the other will be closer to the end.

To ensure the opportunity for citizens to be a part of the meeting, the entire meeting will be taking place via Zoom. Those looking to attend can follow the link provided to register: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_p6t88Th7TPaH7E0L-Px1Wg

Thanks for your reporting of the City Council. It is truly an important service that you deserve applause for providing. I know that summarizing the often long running meetings can be a tedious effort.

Have you thought about adding a description of the topics raised by the public during the public comment period?

    Thanks.
