Olympia is looking for another round of sculptures for next year’s exhibits at Percival Landing.

In a press release, Olympia announced a call for 18 artworks from artists based in Washington State and Oregon to be exhibited as part of the city’s Percival Plinth Project, an annual display where local artists showcase their sculptures and loan them to the city.

The city will pick the sculptures, which will be displayed for a year on a stainless-steel pedestal on Percival Landing at the southernmost end of Puget Sound.

“All works are displayed on stainless steel pedestals and attached by artists via a connector plate provided by the City,” explained the press release.

Aside from the $1,000 honorarium awarded to the creators of the chosen pieces, at least one sculpture may be chosen by the public to be purchased by the city with up to $10,000 for permanent display to become part of Olympia’s art collection, the city announced.

Last year’s winners, Pat McVay’s “Salmon Romance” and Eileen LaGrasse’s “Underwater Disagreement” are currently on display at Olympia City Hall. They will eventually be relocated somewhere else in the city after a year.

Applications, application details, and eligibility requirements are available here from Tuesday, November 1, until February 1, next year.
