Modern Warrior LIVE, an hourlong musical about one U.S. Army veteran’s journey, will be screened at no charge from Thu., Nov. 11, to Sun., Nov. 14, sponsored by South Puget Sound Community College.

Tickets to the online screening can be reserved through modernwarriorlive.org.

Originally presented as a live performance, Modern Warrior LIVE aims “to break down societal barriers that leave veterans feeling isolated and open up conversations about the veteran experience.”

The film follows the journey of U.S. Army veteran Jaymes Poling through his three deployments to Afghanistan and his transition after returning home.

Mark Otto, executive director of the United War Veterans Council, said in a testimonial that the film “offers an innovative and compelling approach of communicating that post-traumatic stress can result in post-traumatic growth, while reminding us that freedom isn't free.”

“Modern Warrior reminds veterans they are not victims and can use their experiences to grow and make significant contributions to society,” added Anthony Principi, former Secretary of Veterans Affairs.

Modern Warrior LIVE was originally set to be performed live in Olympia as part of the SPSCC Artist & Lecture Series in Spring 2020 but was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
