BASICS: Intro To Sewing Machines

Learn the basics of safety and operation of Bernina sewing machines.

This class runs about 1.5-2 hours and covers basic safety and operations of sewing machines.

This will provide the basic information needed to be certified in using a sewing machine at the Lacey MakerSpace. For more in-depth project-based hands-on instruction, the space offers occasional workshops and one-on-one mentoring.

Basic classes are always free for MakerSpace members. Individuals are welcome to sign up for multiple Basics classes until they feel confident on the equipment.

What you will learn:

  • Overview of machine parts
  • Compatible materials and thread types
  • How to thread the machine
  • How to thread the bobbin
  • Basic stitch patterns
  • Learn more about sewing machines
