Make a Rocket Stove - MIG Welding

Posted by EmilyLaceyMakerspace

Weld your very own Rocket Stove! Come learn welding basics and techniques from Daniel Scheper of Elite Welding and Design.

Summer time means grilling and barbecues! Weld your own rocket stove and have a mini cook out! The rocket stove design is meant to optimize airflow and get the stove really hot really fast. Due to the high heat, there is typically little to no smoke when burning a fire in a rocket stove. It also uses 18 to 35 percent less fuel compared to traditional stoves.

Class includes:
• learn how to safely operate a TIG or MIG welder
• get hands-on doing your first welds coached by Daniel
• materials for basic rocket stove (legs/handle/pot mount)
• additional 1 full hour welder access outside of class time
• certification on welding at the makerspace*

*must demonstrate safe operation to receive certification

Minimum Age: 14 (minors under the age of 18 need to have a guardian present)

NOTE: This class will be a MIG welding class. Our welders have the capability to alternate between MIG and TIG welding. Look out for future opportunities to learn TIG welding! Check out a video here to learn the differences between the two: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AZ8J3c8QxE

Need more time on the welder? Non-member participants get 50% discount on welding time if needed to complete the rocket stove. Members have free access to complete their project during open hours.

Class size is limited to 4 people in order to be in compliance with current health code guidelines. Sign up for the waitlist on Eventbrite to be notified first when the next class goes live.
