Lacey woman arrested on 2 warrants, charged with 2 more

A Lacey woman initially arrested on two drug-related warrants was charged with two more after police yielded methamphetamine and suspected fentanyl in her coat pocket.

Lacey police arrested Kiley Brynn Hanratty, 30, on December 22 after an officer observed a red Honda Accord with no license plates parked behind the Super 8 Motel on College Street SE.

According to the police report, the vehicle was not wanted, but a woman later identified as Hanratty was in the front passenger seat with her eyes closed and her head bobbing, which the officer believed to be consistent with heroin usage based on his training and experience.

“Based on my training and experience, hotels are hot spots for crime to include stolen vehicles and drug activities,” the arresting officer wrote in his report.

Hanratty told police that she was waiting for her boyfriend to book them a room.

The officer asked for the suspect’s name and birthday and found on the Mobile Computer Terminal (MCT) that she had an active warrant from the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office for delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a building for drug purposes. Hanratty was arrested without incident.

A search of the suspect yielded a “large amount” of cash, three containers with a white powdery substance, and a crystallized substance, according to police. Hanratty was then placed under arrest for unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver synthetic narcotics, on top of her earlier warrants.

The cash totaled $248.25 and was composed mostly of $20 bills, “which is consistent with somebody selling narcotics,” the police report stated. The crystallized substance weighed in at 10 grams and tested positive for methamphetamines.

The white powdery substance tested negative for methamphetamines and cocaine. A detective with the Thurston County Narcotics Task Force believed the substance to be fentanyl. The substance was sent to the Washington State Patrol crime lab for testing.

Hanratty was booked into the Thurston County Jail. On December 27, the Thurston County Prosecuting Attorney charged her with unlawful possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine with intent to deliver, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance – fentanyl with intent to deliver.
