Lacey okays $182M budget for 2023

Posted

After three public hearings and various city meetings, Lacey City Council approved the 2023 budget, amounting to $182,069,133, with a total General Fund Budget of $64,159,814.

During the council meeting on Thursday, December 15, Finance Director Troy Woo said the 2023 budget saw a decrease of $13,365,451 from 2022, while the General Fund saw a decrease of $2,916,097 from last year’s amended budget.

The Finance Department’s report stated that the main reasons for the decrease are “lower one-time capital projects and fewer inter-fund transfers for 2023 capital projects and purchases.”

“The 2023 budget is something to be proud of,” said Woo. “This is a budget that helps preserve our investment and infrastructures… It addresses priorities and future planning for the city.”

The report stated that the 2023 budget focuses on meeting the increasing service demands as Lacey continues to grow as a city.

Based on the approved budget, the estimated revenues and appropriations for each fund and the totals for all funds combined are as follows:

No increase in budget from 2022? With inflation as it is? That is good news, but one wonders.
