The Intercity Transit Authority (ITA) will hold a public hearing to consider public input on the annual update of the agency’s Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for the period 2026-2029.
The public hearing is scheduled for May 21, 2025. The public can attend the hearing in person at the administrative office of Intercity Transit located at 510 Pattison Street SE in Olympia, by telephone, or via Teams video conference.
Opportunities to provide public comment by telephone or other remote means will be posted on the Intercity Transit website at: www.intercitytransit.com.
The TIP identifies Intercity Transit projects planned use of federal funding under the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) grant programs. The list of projects summarized in the Draft TIP is anticipated to become final, unless modified, following the public hearing and a final review by the Transit Authority.
Federal funds utilized by Intercity Transit for identified projects come from direct apportionment, regional formula distribution, and competitive applications. Other project funding is based on estimated, potentially available federal funding, available through both formula distributions and competitive processes.
A summary of the projects for which IT has programmed secured and potential funding for the 2025-2028 period include:
•Acquisition of replacement transit fleets.
•Planning, design, and construction of transit facilities that support public transportation services consistent with the adopted Long-Range Plan and agency Budget.
•Eligible programs and services that support public transportation.
TIP projects total more than $111M in combined federal and local funds for the 2026-2029 period.
The Draft TIP is also available for review on Intercity Transit’s website at www.intercitytransit.com.
