New Rainbow Cloud Cafe has something for everybody

Serial entrepreneur Leland Harmell and his wife, Sydney, have launched Rainbow Cloud Café, in west Olympia. And their grand opening is this Saturday.

If the business’ name sounds familiar, like a certain fermented drink, that’s the idea. The Harmells also own Rainbow Cloud Kombucha, the bottled and on-tap drinks seen in grocery stores and at Olympia Farmers Market. The new café “is an extension of the kombucha business,” according to Sydney.

The café is “a hub for people who want our kombucha all the time,” according to Leland. “Super screaming deals on Kombuchas here, 6 bottles for $20. It’s the best deal in town on those.” Growlers? Available.

Besides the kombucha there’s something on the menu for everybody, especially the vegetarian, vegan and raw food eaters around here who remember Rawk Star Creations, Peace Love & Raw and OlyRaw, Leland Harmell’s earlier ventures.

The menu includes fresh-made juices and smoothies, salads, sandwiches and treats, such as from local food crafters COBB’S or Blissful Wunders Confectionary Chocolats. Except for the bread, sourced from Blue Heron Bakery, “I’d say it’s 90% organic,” according to Leland, who added, “if you’re ordering a juice or smoothie or a salad, I’d say it’s 99% organic. We’re trying to source as conscious[ly] as possible.”

But this is not a vegan-only kind of place. Meat from no-hormone turkeys as well as various cheeses, all-natural, naturally, are available on some of their sandwiches.

There’s outdoor seating at a few small tables as well as a sandbox to keep kids busy.  With no indoor seating for now, it’s either grab ‘n go or dodge the raindrops outside.

Sydney told The JOLT that they have just signed on with DoorDash, for those who’d prefer delivery.
