Like a scene from “Back to the Future,” a 20-minute pursuit of an auto theft suspect ended in a brawl in a thick puddle of cow dung, the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) reported in a Facebook post yesterday.
Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a reported auto theft on Waddell Creed Road SW on Sunday night, the TCSO reported. The 911 caller said someone with a utility truck was on his property and attempting to steal a vehicle.
The suspect rammed into the reporting party’s vehicle before running him over, the TCSO said. The caller was treated and released at the scene.
A deputy arrived just as the suspect was leaving. Deputies then spent 20 minutes pursuing the suspect for second-degree assault, until Chehalis Tribal Police successfully spiked the suspect’s vehicle.
The suspect drove through a residential backyard before fleeing on foot into a cattle field, where he was tasered by deputies.
“The suspect then fought with deputies in a thick, brown puddle” the TCSO said. “We have confirmed this puddle was cow dung.”
The suspect was booked for second-degree assault, hit and run, attempted auto theft and attempt to elude a police vehicle.
A look at The JOLT’s Blotter revealed the suspect to be Paul Arthur Conroy, 64.

Hoping Mr. Conroy is required to pay for new TCSO uniforms.

Any bets the utility vehicle was stolen? Thanks, too, for the name. And kudos to the Tribal police for catching the thief.
