Lacey Museum is moving to the Bell Center on 6th Avenue, scheduled to open in early 2025.

In its press release, the City of Lacey announced that the move is designed to offer more dynamic ways to engage with local history and create an innovative space where Lacey’s rich heritage can be celebrated and preserved.

“This move will open up a lot of possibilities for the museum,” said Erin Quinn Valcho, museum curator. “Lacey has a rich history we haven’t been able to fully show off. We have a number of fascinating exhibits we can’t wait to share with the community. We are excited to begin the moving process and hope everyone will visit our new space next year.”

The new space will feature expanded exhibitions, interactive displays, and a variety of educational programs that invite community members to learn, share, and experience Lacey’s story together.

As part of this transition, the Lacey Museum's current location at the historic Russell House on Lacey Street will close on November 8.

While the Russell House will no longer operate as the museum's main exhibit space, it will be transformed into a research center that will offer historians, students, and community members interested in exploring Lacey's past access to genealogy resources, historic records, and research materials.

The Lacey Museum has been a cornerstone of the community, preserving and showcasing the city's history through various exhibits and programs. The museum's collection includes thousands of historic photographs and artifacts that chronicle the development of Lacey and the South Sound region.

Congratulations to Erinn Quinn-Valcho and City of Lacey for this major step forward to preserve and share local history. I can't wait to see the new space and the exhibits.
