Drunk driver boxed into Jack in the Box drive-thru, police say

Posted

An allegedly intoxicated woman was arrested for driving under the influence while in a fast-food drive-thru on Sunday, July 4 just after 2 a.m.

Alyssa Marie Medina, 24, of Tumwater, was reported by an employee at Jack In The Box at 110 Trosper Rd SW in Tumwater.

The Jack In The Box employee told Tumwater police that Medina had stopped in the drive-thru just before the food reader boards, then tried to reverse out of the drive-thru because “she didn’t know what she was doing.”  The employee's recorded statement is below this story.

The male driver of the vehicle behind her got out of his vehicle, spoke with her, then got into her driver’s seat and back the vehicle out of the drive-thru lane for her.

Police say Medina told them she had been at a friend’s house and had four to five drinks about 30 minutes prior to driving to Jack in the Box.

Medina refused a voluntary standardized field sobriety test stating to TPD that there’s “no point, I know I would fail.” Medina did give a portable breath test which blew a 0.195. The legal limit in Washington is .08.

When asked, Medina said she barely remembered driving to Jack In The Box and didn’t recall going through the drive-thru.

At the Tumwater Police Department, Medina blew a .142 on the Draeger. She was booked into the Nisqually jail for driving under the influence.
