Disorderly at the transit center, woman arrested on trespass and assault allegations

A Lacey woman was charged with a felony and a misdemeanor after allegedly slapping and spitting at an Intercity Transit security officer.

Wendy Ann Adkins, 59, was charged with third-degree assault and second-degree criminal trespass by the Thurston County Prosecuting Attorney on January 11.

Olympia police arrested Adkins on January 7 after a reported assault at Intercity Transit on Franklin Street NE. The reporting party told authorities that a security officer was assaulted by a woman, later identified as Adkins, who had previously been banned from the property.

Dispatchers said they could hear the suspect yelling in the background.

The security officer told police that he was informed about Adkins being disorderly at the transit center. He added that Adkins was not allowed to be there due to a prior trespass warning.

Olympia police later confirmed that a trespass warning was issued against Adkins in May 2022, preventing her from being at the transit center until May 13, 2023.

The security officer said he told Adkins to leave, but the suspect became agitated and started yelling at him. The officer said he continued to ask Adkins to leave, but the suspect responded by slapping him on the arm and spitting in his face, with her saliva landing in his eyes.

Another security officer for the transit center told police that he witnessed the assault. He said the first officer was standing in a non-threatening manner when Adkins advanced and attacked him.

The suspect then walked over to Washington Street NE, where she was later located by police.

Adkins was booked into the Thurston County Jail for third-degree assault and second-degree criminal trespass.
