Election 2020

Did you receive more than one ballot?

Posted

Some in Washington state have reported receiving two ballots. Officials say this is likely due to an individual reporting a new address or updating their driver’s licenses.

The Pierce County Auditor’s Office posted information on what to do if you find yourself with two ballots. A representative from the Thurston County Auditor’s Office noted the information from Pierce County is also relevant to all Washington voters.

According to the post on the auditor’s website, if you receive a second ballot, open the envelope, and you’ll note it’s marked “Replacement/Reissued Ballot.” Vote and return the replacement ballot, as it has the correct races and precinct information for your address.

If you have already submitted the first ballot you received, the auditor’s office will hold it. If the replacement isn’t received, your initial ballot will be counted.

Security measures ensure that only one ballot will be counted per voter.

A representative from the Thurston County Auditor’s Office was unavailable to comment on whether this has occurred in Thurston County.
