Booze, beers, bumper, Blazer

Another DUI story, this one in Tumwater

Posted

Despite standing next to his disabled car which witnesses say had hit a parked car, ran over a yellow curb and almost hit a building, an allegedly intoxicated man told Tumwater police that he was not involved in the collision last Sunday afternoon.

Roger Snell, 62, allegedly ran his Chevy Blazer into a Ford Escape in the Fred Meyer parking lot at 555 Trosper Rd SW. at approximately 2:50 p.m. on June 13, 2021. The Escape had damage on the bumper and rear tail light, while the Blazer had a flat rear right tire.

Snell told Tumwater police that he was trying to leave at the time that he was contacted and denied being involved in the accident. According to the police report, he stated that while backing up, he didn’t hit anything but offered his insurance information and said he would pay for the other vehicle.

Snell told officers that he had driven from Lake Park Dr to Fred Meyer to get some lemon cake. He had been watching golf previously and drank two beers an hour prior to the accident.

Snell agreed to do the field sobriety tests, blowing a 0.20 on the field sobriety test.

Snell then admitted that he drank half a pint of whiskey about three hours prior to driving.

After being arrested, he blew a .223 on the Draeger.

Snell has a previous DUI conviction in 2018.

Snell was booked into the Nisqually jail for driving under the influence.
