Annual real estate forum tomorrow will feature talks from industry experts

Industry experts will assess the state of real estate and development in Thurston County and the South Sound region in a virtual forum tomorrow, Thu., Oct. 7, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The Thurston Economic Development Council’s 13th annual real estate forum will explore commercial real estate data and trends in South Sound and provide projections for the future of commercial, industrial, retail, and multi-family properties.

Didi Caldwell, the president and founding principal of the site selection firm Global Location Strategies, will be the keynote speaker at the event.

The virtual forum will also highlight projections for multi-family, commercial, retail, and industrial properties in Thurston County and South Sound.

Commercial values in Thurston County

According to the Thurston County Assessor's Office, commercial real estate saw a median increase in value of 1.3 percent in the past 20 months. The warehouse and industrial sectors posted a similar growth of 1 percent during that period. 

Meanwhile, smaller and independent establishments lost some value in the retail and restaurants sector, and larger national retailers and restaurants logged real estate value growth of 5 to 7 percent. Residential values enjoyed the biggest median increase at 20 percent.
